Jacob Monk

Bachelor of Health Sciences, Masters of Physiotherapy Practice

Jacob graduated Latrobe Bachelor Health Sciences and Masters of Physiotherapy in 2013. Has worked in private practice ever since where he has become adept at treating athletes with sporting injuries, particularly football and basketball.

Currently Jacob is the physiotherapist for the Ballarat Basketball Miners and Rush teams, where he works at home games and trainings. On weekends Jacob still plays for the Lake Wendouree Football Club and has previously worked closely with the South Warrnambool and Sebastopol Football Clubs as well as having experience in TAC Cup under 18s.

In the clinic, Jacob has continued to develop his skills in dry needling, running retraining and pilates as well as attend courses focusing on the sporting knee and hamstring. Jacob is also a certified level 1 strength and conditioning coach which greatly compliments his rehabilitation programs.

Through competing in muay thai kickboxing locally as well as in Thailand himself, Jacob has developed an excellent understanding of combat sport training and requirements.  When the weather is right Jacob spends his time on the coast surfing and travelling.

Jacob graduated from La Trobe University in 2013 and completed his graduate year in the private sector in Hamilton and Port Fairy. University placements allowed Jacob to gain experience with paediatric conditions through to geriatric conditions. Jacob has completed further study in dry needling and also has experience providing physiotherapy for the South Warrnambool Football and Netball Club.

Jacob treats all sporting conditions with a particular focus on martial arts , basketball and football injuries. He has a particular interest in the biomechanical aspect of injuries and will be using the DorsaV wireless sensor technology to help assess some injuries.

Jacob has previously competed in kickboxing in Thailand and this year will play football with the Lakers for the first time.
